Student Community Innovation Program – Team Member Volunteer Description
Want to help a local Florida community address environmental issues? The Suncoast Science Center/Faulhaber Fab Lab is looking for Team Members to join our Student Community Innovation Program. As a SCIP Team Member, you’ll work throughout the summer to help develop a product in response to current environmental crises in Sarasota County. Not only will you have the chance to work with numerous local charities, organizations, and mentors, but you will also receive technical training at our on-site, state-of-the-art fabrication lab. Help us develop a product from concept to working prototype and make a meaningful impact on the community!
This is a volunteer opportunity located in Sarasota, FL. The program runs from June-August 2021, and you will be expected to work part-time hours through the months of June and July. There will be on-call pre-project meetings in May and follow-up media interviews through August.
Qualifications:
- Current freshman or sophomore
- Currently pursuing a degree in the sciences (environmental science preferred)
- Technical skills are a plus (CAD, 3D printing, etc.)
- Background in education or mentorship is a plus
- Willingness to learn and be mentored
- Reliable transportation and ability to attend in person meetings
- Technological proficiency using Google Drive apps, Discord
